Guadeloupe jumped the highest after finishing 4th in the Caribbean Cup played in Trinidad and Tobago having topped their group with a 2-1 victory over Cuba and reaching the semi finals of the Gold Cup in America earning a 1-1 draw against Costa Rica and winning 2-1 against Canada in their group and against Honduras by the same score in the quarter final.
Iraq lifted the 2007 Asian Cup winning their group in Thailand ahead of Australia whom they defeated 3-1 and beating Saudi Arabia by a single goal in the final played in Indonesia.
Haiti defeated hosts Trinidad and Tobago 2-1 to win the 2007 Caribbean Cup.
Kazakhstan sent Serbia back 2-1 losers and returned from Armenia with a 1-0 win in Euro qualifiers.
Lithuania had 2-0 wins at home to Ukraine and away to Georgia in Euro qualifiers.
Namibia beat Libya 1-0 at home and were 3-2 winners in Ethiopia in African qualifiers.
Paraguay smashed Colombia 5-0 in the Copa America played in Venezuela and enjoyed a 3-0 win in Chile in a World Cup qualifier.
Trinidad and Tobago failed to take full advantage of hosting the Caribbean Cup, starting with a 1-1 draw against Barbados and finishing with a 2-1 defeat to Haiti in the final. They also suffered a 2-1 Gold Cup loss to El Salvador in the United States where they finished bottom of their group.
Cameroon lost an African qualifier 1-0 in Equatorial Guinea and failed to make a positive impression throughout the year.

The biggest surprise of the year was the Cook Islands' 4-1 victory over Tuvalu in a World Cup qualifier in Samoa Other big results were Jordan's 2-0 loss in Kyrgyzstan also in a World Cup qualifier and Mexico's 2-0 victory over Brazil in the Copa America. Sweden were awarded their match against Denmark 3-0 after crowd trouble in Copenhagen.
The highest score of the year was Fiji's 16-0 routing of Tuvalu in the South Pacific Games in Samoa.
Three new countries joined the rankings. Montenegro moved into 71st, Mayotte 158th and Tuvalu 210th place.
